Feeding the World? We Aren’t Even Feeding Ourselves: U.S. Ag Imports Reach Record High

For family and friends, old and new, and for our peace-filled life here on Fiona’s Farm.

Despite all the gifts we have been given, we on our farm and in western North Carolina, have some trauma and feelings following recent events in the world and locally from Hurricane Helene.

We have a lot of large trees down and fences damaged, but people, animals and outbuildings were miraculously spared. We are grateful but grieving.

It needs to be said that many lost everything including their lives.

And with all that has been happening in our country and the world, it is tempting to give in to the “dis’s- discouragement, disrespect, disharmony etc. But it’s also an opportunity to recommit to uplifting permaculture ethics- earth care, people care (all living things) and fair share. Working with nature, not against it.

Giving in to the sadness is not an option. We plan to actively resist the sadness.

The blooms, herbs and fruits are beginning to grow on.

We are having a great time utilizing everything in a variety of products.

We are enjoying all that summer brings.

And as it is Summertime, I have been working on bug repelling products. They are effective, natural and not harmful!

The animals like it when the workday is done, we sit on the deck and listen to a few old tunes.

We have been fortunate in having the opportunity to offer a home to these two….

They are best buddies, and needed a new place to live. They are very sweet and gentle and funny. They have quickly become part of our family.

Warm weather has arrived and blooms are abundant. We have been in the process of transforming the Fiona’s Farm shop into a Garden Shop. Seeds and pots, garden art and garden-themed items are in inventory.

Kevin’ s green thumbs are still doing magic and he has been busy offering plants and wisdom to customers

We are continuing to make small batch body care products. We are continuing to learn about the many benefits of herbs for wellbeing.

Time to get the garden in!!
