New items in the Shop

Continuing a trial of Saturday shop opening.

It is hot, outside and in.

In the shop a neighbor stopped in and sold me this:

A vintage “chocolate pot set”. For serving hot chocolate. The bone china cups are SO thin! I love the violet design

We are having fun and making things and growing plants etc.

Hope everyone is well!

Farm Life

Herbs drying

The gardens are very happy and the herb harvest is already coming in!

Peppermint

Really enjoying the fruits of our labors.

I will keep opening Fiona’s Farm shop so long as the old AC unit makes the building tolerable. And anytime by request. Stay tuned for shop hours and vacation closures.

Happy summertime to all!!!

Memorial Day

Sure feels like Summer to me!

First harvest of peppermint

Actually this is a small portion of the available peppermint. Also ready are lavender, lemon balm and yarrow.

Swiss chard

Swiss chard, bacon and tomatoes for Sunday supper.

Sunday harvest on the drying rack.

I hope you all have a beautiful holiday weekend.

Our Adopted Barn Cat

brought over a surprise. She was assisting me with strawberry picking

When I looked up and saw kittens! Three of them; a tiger, solid black and…

This seems to be the most courageous of the three

We don’t know who these beauties belong to, but they seem to have made Fiona’s Farm their home.

A walk in the woods

The goats found lots of forage

They needed some encouragement to come out of the barn, as they are being tormented by flies and mosquitoes! So we went along for the walk.

Handy guy to have around

Dash seems to enjoy picking the “pickies” off of my pants.

Our adopted barn cat

I unimaginatively named her Oreo. She has adopted us and came along for the walk too.

She is sweet

And we had a very good day in Fiona’s Farm Shop, and Kevin’s plant business is growing every day. Bad pun.

I will be adding some new items to our online store this week. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for stopping in!

Opening day in the Shop

It was a quiet day with a handful of visitors, but a good start for early May!

A sample of the new beeswax candles

I was able to work on displays in the shop, Mother’s Day and Teacher Appreciation ideas.

Lots of unique earrings as well as other jewelry on display

A new twist in the shop is this:

The back room has been converted to Granny’s Attic because…
And…
An assortment of vintage quilts and doilies

We hope everyone is well and happy.

Happy Mother’s Day to all!

What’s Up at Fiona’s Farm?

Snapdragons in the borders

Everything is bursting into bloom!

Herbs and flowers are returning to the walkways and front gardens.
Just a few of the annuals

Kevin has propagated a large quantity and variety of shrubs, herbs and vegetables for sale.

And many of those veggies found a home in the backyard food garden!

So tempting to spend the gorgeous Spring days outside, but I have been working away on preparing the shop to open this Saturday. Plans to trial opening every Saturday are in place. The shop will feature refurbished furniture as well as many smaller items such as candles, jewelry and garden themed products.

Come and see us soon!

Welcoming 2022!

Lily loves the view from atop this black walnut stump

So long 2021. Always a bittersweet sentiment for me, to bid farewell to yet another year and welcome another.

2021 was a year filled with highs and lows on Fiona’s Farm, both losses and gains. We lost beloved family, both human and animal. And all are deeply missed.

Our animal crew happily coexisting.

Fiona’s Farm Shop finally opened its doors in September and will be open again in May 2022 with increased business hours: Open each Saturday in May from 9-4 pm. And of course anytime by request. Our online shop is always available.

*It is possible that the shop will open each Saturday throughout the season, We will wait and see about that.

We want to shift the focus of the posts on this website.

We are wanting to make the content more informative and interesting, writing about our activities here on the farm: Plant propagation and permaculture principles, herbs and the pure skin care products that we create in the shop kitchen.

So hopefully these weekly posts will keep you all entertained until we meet again.

Until we do, Happy 2022 to all!

Holiday Room from Days Gone by…

The winter holidays are such a wonderful time to gather with friends and family, as has been our collective cultural custom for a long time. It is deeply fixed in memory. A gift to be cherished and acknowledged. Memory is a powerful thing.

This year , the seasonal holiday room at Fiona’s Farm is nostalgic. Retro.

This theme fell into place, but it also seems especially poignant this year, given the fragile uncertain times in which we are living. It is comforting and healing to remember simpler times of togetherness. Every one of us has a story worthy of recalling and sharing with others. Our history…our ancestry.

Every doll and toy in the Holiday Room is vintage, and has a history too.

We at Fiona’s Farm wish you all a peace-filled holiday season, with friends and family both near and far. And further, wish that kindness and generosity be our practice.

Let your light shine on and bring healing to a broken world.

We hope to see you at the Fiona’s Farm tomorrow December 11th.

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

Fiona’s Farm Shop will be open this Saturday December 11th from 9-4.

Come and visit and enjoy a mulled beverage and cookies while you shop!

Shop in progress

Dash and Solstice (mother and son) will be watching for visitors

We have been busily creating gift items for the shop (and for online).

We have some vintage finds, as well.

We think Fiona’s Farm Shop would be a dandy place to find last minute gifts for co-workers, teachers and anyone else on your list.

The Christmas Room is nearly ready to reveal…more on that in our Friday post.

We hope to see friends, new and old here on Fiona’s Farm on Saturday to celebrate this holiday season.

Peace to all.

Be well.
